History in Every Shimmy: A Bellydancing Workshop

Workshop Description: 

Learn the basics of belly dancing, such as posture, shimmies, isolations, and travelling steps while getting a crash course in the history and culture surrounding the dance.

Instructor Bio:

Tamara is first generation Lebanese American and Pittsburgh native who loves to share her vibrant culture with her community. She has been performing Lebanese folklore dance since she was 5 and has always taken the opportunity to teach others. At the bright age of 8 she was an eager dance assistant to her mom who taught belly dancing every Wednesday evening in Brookline. Today, she is a dance instructor in her local Church community, passing on techniques to her peers and younger generations. Fueled by her deep-rooted passion, she is eager to grab her waist scarf and share the beautiful art of belly dancing with you.
