Trauma-Focused Yoga for Sexual Empowerment

Join us at Amarah Studio and Boutique for an all-encompassing event that will transform the way you think about yoga and sexual healing. 

This event will be led by Meagan Narvaez, a licensed sex and relationship therapist (The Passion Lab) , and Deena Jackson, a certified trauma-sensitive yoga instructor. 

In addition to a yoga practice and group discussion, two Pittsburgh-based vendors will be at the event:

• Mona Wiley of Buzz Me In will have a variety of pleasure products to demo at the event. Mona will also be available to answer questions or provide recommendations to personalize your needs. You will be able to purchase any of the pleasure products online. 
• Mark Mohler a.k.a. Sanquine Teapots, a potter and tea enthusiast, will be serving warm, cozy vibes by brewing us oolong tea (see below for more details). Mark will also have select items from his store available for purchase. Mark's Website

Doors open at 5:45pm -- you will have the chance to settle in, grab some snacks, and peruse the boutique upstairs and vendors' booths.

Starting at 6pm: a brief introduction to the event, the hosts, and the vendors, followed by a 50-minute trauma-sensitive yoga practice facilitated by Deena Jackson. 

After our trauma-informed yoga practice, Mark will serve us tea from the teaware he makes in his home studio here in Pittsburgh. The tea being served is Traditional Dong Ding, a brilliant, roasted oolong tea produced in Taiwan. The tea is processed with old techniques to create the cleanest, brightest possible flavors. If you become friends with the teaware used during the event, you will have the option to purchase it, and/or other select products.

Since Traditional Dong Ding is known for its calming energy, we chose this tea to nurture a safe, warm and soothing environment as Meagan Narvaez, licensed therapist, facilitates a discussion about how we can use what we learn in yoga practices for sexual healing, ways in which trauma can impact sex, and how to navigate these challenges to have fulfilling sexual experiences with yourself and/or your partner(s). The discussion is meant to be as conversational as it is educational, but sharing is optional.

Meagan Narvaez of The Passion Lab

Meagan Narvaez (she/her/hers) is a licensed therapist in Pennsylvania and Washington state specializing in sex therapy. Meagan works with adults of all ages to improve the quality of their relationships, either with their partner(s) or themselves, by recognizing that having a therapeutic space to understand their sexual needs and desires is vital. Some topics that Meagan works with are mismatched libido, difficulties with orgasm/erections, sexual trauma, Kink/BDSM exploration, opening up the relationship, and porn.

Deena Jackson, Certified Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Instructor

Deena has been practicing yoga for 14 years when you decided she wanted to become a yoga instructor. She earned her teaching certification at Moksha Yoga Amazonica yoga school in Moyobamba, Peru. She is versed in multiple styles of yoga with a heavy focus on yin and restorative styles. She teaches Yin Yoga at Amarah on Sunday evenings at 6:30pm and Restorative Yoga on Monday evenings at 7:30pm.

Mark Mohler is a professional potter based in Pittsburgh, PA. He specializes in making intimate, functional teaware. "My work is about comfort. I make work that interacts, not just with what goes in it, but the life it can be a part of."

Mark's pottery is made from a single source clay dug by the same family for over 70 years in Lizella, Georgia. Mark fires his Lizella clay pottery to 2120ºF in a propane-fired kiln he built. All of his glazes are formulated in-house with food-safe, non-toxic components.
